About Sophy

Born in a refugee camp in Thailand to parents who escaped the Cambodian genocide, Sophy Thomas is a powerful voice of resilience, redemption, and radical purpose. Raised in the shadow of survival, she carries within her the weight of generational trauma—and the unwavering hope of healing. After unexpectedly losing her husband in 2021, Sophy turned unimaginable grief into a mission to help others heal forward not just cope.

She is the founder of the Brian Thomas Legacy Foundation, an organization that awards scholarships and creates life-shaping programs designed to inspire individuals to live with intention, lead with integrity, and build generational impact.

With a heart for advocacy, Sophy is also developing the Father's Right Initiative to empower men—especially fathers—to rise with purpose through education and character development. Her commitment to emotional wellness and spiritual healing led her to co-host the podcast Heartprints of Loss, alongside two fellow widows, where they share transparent conversations about navigating grief and learning to thrive after loss.

From widowhood to warriorhood, Sophy’s story of perseverance invites audiences to rethink pain as a platform and turn tragedy into transformation. She is a speaker, spiritual encourager, and guide for those navigating grief, identity, and new beginnings. Through storytelling, faith, and truth-telling, she challenges others to declutter what no longer serves them and boldly step into what does.

"In Between The Spaces – The Roots They Couldn’t Kill"

-By Sophy Thomas

What if the very spaces meant to break you became the soil where your deepest roots grew?

Born in a refugee camp in Thailand and later facing the devastating loss of her husband, Sophy Thomas knows what it means to live in the “in-between”—the unspoken moments between pain and healing, survival and thriving, loss and legacy.

In Between the Spaces: The Roots They Couldn’t Kill, Sophy invites readers into her intimate journey through grief, cultural identity, faith, and the unwavering strength that emerges in life’s most uncertain places. With raw honesty and spiritual insight, she explores how trauma can be both a wound—and a window—revealing the hidden power that anchors us when everything else is uprooted.

This is more than a memoir. It’s a testimony to the resilience found in our silent battles, the sacred strength that grows beneath the surface, and the truth that no matter what life tries to bury:  You are not broken, you are becoming.
